Argentina & Uruguay
The Long Island Symphonic Choral Association asked me to join them on their tour of Argentina & Uruguay. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to discover a place I’d never been before. I was so taken that I’m already working on getting back again soon. What a beautiful place.
Chopin 200
Come hear me on Thursday at noon at the World Financial Center. I’ll be at Piano C, in the Winter Garden, under the palm trees in the atrium of the center, playing about 35 minutes of music by Chopin for his 200th birthday. Here’s a link to learn more about the event and the location. I hope to see you there!

Rose’s Birthday
My beloved piano, Rose, celebrated her 119th birthday. As usual I hosted a dinner party to celebrate the occasion. Here’s some of what was on the menu.
Recital with Katherine and Peter
Absolutely one of the most gratifying musical experiences of my life. Katherine Ciesinski and Peter Van Derick are two of the finest musicians I know. Having the chance to prepare and present a recital with the two of them was a tremendously rewarding experience. It was my first opportunity to lay my hands on Ravel’s magical Sheherazade songs. And all the Schubert on the second half was a joy. We’re all hoping to have a chance to work together as a team again very soon.
Anderson House
What a spectacular place to have a recital. I was quite overwhelmed by the scale and beauty of the Anderson House. Information about the house and its owners, the Society of the Cincinnati, can be found at www.societyofthecincinnati.org. Since the concert took place over the long Thanksgiving weekend several family members came to Washington to hear me and also to see my actress cousin Anjali appearing in As You Like It with the Shakespeare Theatre. It was the first time the two performing Bhimanis were in DC at the same time.
NYSMTA Conference
I attended the convention of the New York State Music Teachers’ Association in Rochester. The highlight for me was hearing my good friend Katherine Ciesinski, who is now on faculty at the Eastman School of Music. She was one of the convention artists and presented a memorable recital along with her sister, Kristine. What fantastic artists they both are. The concert reminded me why I sit down and make music every day. I also had a chance to visit with my former teacher Fernando Laires. I had the opportunity to study with him at the Peabody Conservatory many years back.
New School Year
Here’s Sophie at her second piano lesson. I’m holding out a lot of hope for this wonderful piano hand!
Recording Session
Today I went into Joe Patrych’s recording studio to finish playing the late Brahms works for my next CD. We’ve recorded the Opus 116, 117, and 118 pieces. Once editing is finished we’ll try to get them on the market as soon as possible.
Student Recital
My students gave their final recital of the season in the beautiful Church of the Ascension, on West 107th Street in Manhattan. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful recital.
Hudson Opera House
I was very happy to return to the beautiful Hudson Opera House over Memorial Day Weekend. I was especially pleased my friend, celebrated actress Roberta Maxwell (Brokeback Mountain, Dead Man Walking, etc), was able to attend along with other friends who live in Hudson.
